Join the buildingSMART alliance™
BIM is transforming our industry and we find ourselves each having to invent the transformation one office at a time. This is not a SMART way to work. While we cannot help each company make a successful move to BIM there are some significant collective efforts that need to be accomplished at an industry level to help everyone. Items such as coordination of manufacturers information to be pulled into a model, coordinated and comprehensive education, standards, foundational technology and best business process practices, to name a few are needed. These things cannot be accomplished by one office, one company, association, or industry segment. Accomplishing these things while also achieving interoperability is the basic purpose of the Alliance.
At the same time, BIM is in the spotlight the National CAD Standard continues to support many in our industry. As long as there is a need to product drawings, there will be a need for the National CAD Standard. NCS will also begin addressing the issues with producing drawings from a BIM.
Standards are at the heart of communication and interoperability and the National BIM Standard is no exception. We have now become a strong and well balanced consensus voice—become a member so that your voice and be head and vote can be counted.
