Individual Members of the buildingSMART alliance

Participation in the Alliance identifies you as one of the people working towards solutions to significant problems in our industry and allows you to participate in the consensus process leading to national standards. Members take leadership or participate in various Alliance projects including standards development work. To join, members must accept the Alliance articles of agreement and fill out a membership application.

All buildingSMART alliance members are eligible for:

  • Participation in bSa projects at various levels
  • Discounts on attendee registration fees at National Institute of Building Sciences events
  • Access to the electronic copy (PDF) of JBIM as soon as it is published—weeks in advance of the printed copy
  • Scholarships are available on a per case basis reviewed by the Board of Direction; please contact the Executive Director should you want to apply.
  • Your membership helps support dissemination of no cost products and information to the building industry including:
    • Journal of Building Information Modeling
    • National CAD Standard and National BIM Standard Management and Dissemination
    • buildingSMART alliance, NCS and NBIM-US web site maintenance
    • Annual conference preparation

    • Coordination with all organizations involved in BIM
