Get Involved

Once you have made the decision to join the Alliance then we want you to take advantage of the activities the Alliance provides. However you can choose how deeply you want to get involved. Your funds alone are a significant benefit to the facilities industry.

You can be aware of progress being made by the Alliance from the monthly report and the semi-annual JBIM publication along with the web sites.

• There is a Strategic level primarily reserved for Sponsors and Associations with Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that allow them to be on the Board of Direction and Planning Committee for the National BIM Standard™. These are the leadership roles in the Alliance and standards development efforts.
• There are local Interest Group meetings that you can attend in your area to network with others associated with the Alliance. These groups also feed issues to the buildingSMART International Users Group. If there is no Interest Group in your area consider starting one. Guidelines for starting one can be found here.
• As a member you have access to the member portal. This tool allows you to participate on projects. If you see a project on this web site that you want to participate on simply contact the project leader listed. Alliance members can actively participating in the development of projects which are helping transform the real property industry and which eventually may be developed into industry standards. • If you would like to participate in standards development then you can. bSa projects such as the National CAD Standard and the National BIM Standard are open to all members (with some additional requirements, such as purchase of the NCS) and need your help in the development of ballot items as well as participation in the consensus process.
