The BIMForum, an organization representing all sectors of the AECO industry, and the buildingSMART alliance, a council of the National Institute of Building Sciences are jointly sponsoring an Academic Workshop to be held on Tuesday December 7, through Thursday 9, 2010 in Washington DC during the NIBS-Ecobuild America Conference. The main objective of this Academic Workshop is to gather representatives of different academic programs and industry to discuss the core educational principles for technology-based collaboration in the AECO and to identify directives guiding the incorporation of these principles into college curriculum.
Researchers, academicians and practitioners in the AECO industry are invited to submit short papers (no more than 8 pages) and/or presentations describing best practices, experiences and challenges incorporating BIM in creating educational opportunities. Papers are also invited to describe specific course or project experiences. Specific topics to be addressed include:
- Learning Outcomes Assessments
- Pedagogical Models
- Interdisciplinary Approaches
- Research Opportunities
- Accreditation Issues
- Curriculum Integration
- Sample Courses & Sample Lessons
- Student Projects
- Industry Involvement
Dates
- Interested presenters are invited to submit an abstract (300 words) online by May 21, 2010 to the organizing committee at any of the following: dsmith@nibs.org, raymond-issa@ufl.edu, salazar@wpi.edu
- Notification of acceptance will be issued by June 15, 2010
- Full papers should be presented by August 31, 2010
- Notification for Presentations will be issued by September 15, 2010
- Final Presentations will be due by November 26, 2010
Accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference. Some of these papers will also be invited for further development to be published in an ITCON Special Issue based on their relevance to the theme of this conference.
