bSa Mid-month Report - October 2010

  • The first is a presentation by SKASKA at the Lean Construction Institute recently concerning the Miami Valley Hospital that Greg Howell passed to me. The presentation can be found here: http://projects.buildingsmartalliance.org/files/?artifact_id=3289 and the video referred to in the presentation can be found here: http://projects.buildingsmartalliance.org/files/?artifact_id=3288. I will be visiting with SKANSKA in Finland early next month and participating in a round table related to the future of BIM with several Finnish companies. Anyone have something that I can use to demonstrate our level of BIM equaling theirs?
  • The second item is another, the state of Ohio Protocol: http://projects.buildingsmartalliance.org/files/?artifact_id=3306. While still in its public comment period, it is a great source of information and language that others can learn from in requesting BIM on their projects. The state web site is found here: http://www.das.ohio.gov/Divisions/GeneralServices/StateArchitectsOffice/BIMSurvey2010/tabid/542/Default.aspx
  • We are updating the WBDG page very soon. If you have any items that you feel should be included on that page please either send them to me of Birgitta Foster. Obviously, links to these items will be included.
  • Please plan to come to Washington for the buildingSMART alliance Conference that is part of Ecobuild America. The following meetings should be of extreme interest:
  • S102 - Tues - 8:30am - Rm 150A - buildingSMART alliance Overview - This is a basic introduction to what we are doing and plan to do.
  • S303 - Tues - 1:15pm - Rm 150B - Users Interest Group Meeting - We are organizing to better participate on the world stage with the International Users Group.
  • S804 - Thur - 3:15pm - Rm 151A - NBIMS Project Committee - If you are on the project committee this one is critical as it will go over ballot creation and how to use the portal for commenting and voting.
  • Only problem, of course are the other threads related to BIM in Practice, Education, Green BIM, and BIM and GIS, all of which have extremely interesting sessions all occurring at the same time. Please check those out also before making your final decisions.
